Another Nezuko Figure?

figures May 19, 2021

First and foremost, this figure is a cast-off. Please keep that in mind while scrolling through.

This is another one of those random Amazon purchases.

So first thing's first – and that's that this figure is really small. The box was about the size of a Rubik's cube, and the figure is about that size when assembled.

Some assembly required

After opening the box, you are greeted with a bunch of little plastic pieces vaguely resembling Nezuko.

In case you were wondering, the cast off terminology in this context refers to the fact that the clothing is removable from the figure.

It's... rather detailed considering how small it is. It's been a while since I've watched the anime and I don't remember those red petals on her skin.

Personally, something even more interesting is that this figure was less than $20. I feel like this was a better value than the clones I've previously purchased – though it's not perfect, so I'm sort of questioning the quality. I'm also not sure if this is a legitimate figure, since that price is pretty cheap for a figure. And unlike most prize figures, as you can see this one involves a tiny bit of assembly before you can see the full figure.

So without further ado,

Let's get started.

The head sculpt isn't too bad. The face isn't too off, and the red gradient on the hair looks pretty good from this angle. Upon closer look on some of the hair though, you can see that there's some imperfections.

Re-paintable, but yeah not the best quality out there.

Next is the clothing.

Only a few pieces here. The yukata that snaps on (forgot to snap a picture of the back side), underwear, and the bamboo mouth guard that she wears.

Upon closer inspection... yeah that outfit isn't the prettiest.

You can see that the back side has this dark smudge on it, and the two parts don't exactly align that neatly.

Putting everything else together, you get this figure of Nezuko –

At first glance it doesn't look that bad.

Yeah, the quality isn't perfect. Aside from the hair smudges and the outfit smudges, you can see that the toe portion on her right foot isn't even cut correctly – it's just strip of plastic from the mold they used. The red nail polish is also... interesting. Instead of just painting the nail area it looks like it's been dipped instead.

Would I recommend this figure? Hm, it's not a bad figure. Though it is a bit closer to the lewd side in the innocence scale. It also depends if you want a slightly lewd figure of Nezuko in your collection, but hey, I'm still on the lookout for a better one :)
