【Goblin Slayer】Cosplay
A behind the scenes look at my Goblin Slayer cosplay
Heya, I'm back again. This time it's Goblin Slayer from... Goblin Slayer.
After doing the Elias Cosplay last year, I felt a bit more prepared this time. As you can probably imagine, the iconic part of this cosplay is yet again, a helmet. With my trusty 3D printer in hand as well as a model that I found online, I got to work on printing out the helmet piece by piece.
For some reason, I was having a hard time getting the first layer to print nicely so a few of the prints ended up being failures but I had no choice but to push through. My brother was inviting a few other people to come with us and they were planning on dressing up so I couldn't back down now.
Luckily after a while, the prints started cooperating and I started to amass a few pieces ready to be worked on.
There weren't that much stringing as there was with the Elias mask but at the same time these weren't exactly supposed to be challenging prints in the first place. To be fair, I was just happy I was on time to getting my cosplay ready this year.
While waiting for the rest of the helmet to finish printing, I ended up getting my Anime Midwest tickets in the mail!
A few days later, I finally had most of the helmet printed. The front visor kind of broke off but I figured I'd just fix it later. Oh, and that pink part at the bottom? Yep, I ran out of light blue filament while printing this. Luckily I had a bunch ready to go.
Oh, and did I mention, I still had yet to figure out how I was going to see out of this in the first place.
Something new for this cosplay was that I also used EVA foam. Special thanks to tntcosplaysupply.com as their foam ended up working pretty well. I had plenty left over for next year's cosplay.
A bunch of metallic silver paint later and I started to build up my armor collection. There were some parts that I wanted to redo but time was running out and I didn't want to worry about running out of time.
A little tweak here and there and eventually it was looking pretty decent.
I even managed to add a little red LED light somehow.
If you were wondering how it looked like from my side, this is what I had to look at the whole day. Not too pretty but a bit better than the Elias one. Much better cooling too. And the ability to pop the front off? Yeah, that was such a good idea (even though the magnets holding it together kind of started falling apart near the end of the day but it still survived somehow).
