Seeds + Dirt = Bigger Flowers

But only when it's not cold.

For some reason it started getting pretty cold recently. Unfortunately, it seems like some of my plants didn't like that.

Oh wells, went to go repot some of them and prune the others. Here's how it went.

Hyacinth

Pretty sure it looked like that when I originally bought it...

This one was picked up from a grocery store. I think when it was more or less fully bloomed when I originally bought it, not sure. Most of the leaves were starting to turn yellow so I tried to save what I could.

Not sure if it was a bad idea to do horizontal cuts on the leaves, we'll see what happens I suppose.
Even though it's wilting, the pink petals still have some sort of appeal to them.

A bit of foliage

I picked up a few of these, no flowers bloom on them but still look pretty nice.

Not really sure what this one is called, but it's one of those that started dropping a bit when it got colder.
This one's pretty new. It looked funny... so I got it.
It looks like vine tentacles are sprouting out of it.

Orchids... or what's left of them

Not sure what to do about this. The flowers dropped off a few days ago and all that's left is the stem. I had to prune a leaf or two out too.
Will it grow back...?

Sunflowers don't like April snows

Aww, my sunflower seedling was growing pretty nicely till it got cold. I'm hoping it'll survive but it's looking wiltier by the day (if that's a word).

Just when the flower started to bloom too... shame.
You can do it!
It's in it's own pot now.

Tomatoes!

Luckily it didn't seem to degrade too much. I just had to adjust the twine a bit on some of them.

Herbs!

Mint

I moved the mint over to it's own pot and twined it up on some spikes to keep it more organized.

Mmm, mint smells lovely.

Chives

Trimmed this quite a bit.
Didn't know that these beads of water show up when you cut off chives.

Thyme

Not really sure how to tidy this one up, so I'll let it grow for now.

Rosemary

This was with the mint before, but now it's in it's own pot.

Succulents

This is what sort of started it all out.

Originally, I just had this one little cactus.

It looks like it's still alive.
This Haworthia had these scaly leaves on them.
A week or so ago it started growing this stem. I wonder what it'll look like.

A pepper plant

It's another one of those supermarket adventures. Hoping these are small peppers, cause otherwise I think this pot's a tad too small.

Fresh out of the packaging.
In my little incubation area. I'll probably wait till the weather becomes stable again before trying out new seeds. Oh, I guess I need some new soil as well.

And finally, a bonsai!

I didn't realize how pokey the leaves were.

Final thoughts

I'm really liking the idea of gardening. Looking forward to what spring and summer will bring. I'll probably add another update in a few weeks or so.

This windowsill used to be empty not too long ago.
Till next time!
